Although this stays high on any organization's agenda, innovation initiatives fail frequenty and successful innovators have a tough time sustaining their performance. Despite massive investments of management time and money, innovation remains a frustating pursuit in many companies. 

For any orgnanization to make a success of it, there has to be a strategy to align the innovation efforts with business strategy to avoid pursuing conflicting priorities. There has to be an alignment of diverse groups within the organization with clearly understood objectives & priorities to help them focus.
